Abuse Contact DB
Abuse Contact DB is the ideal solution for customers who want to report large amounts of abusive behavior but get rate-limited by whois servers. It is an easy-to-handle mechanism that allows you to look up abuse contact email addresses from which abusive content was sent by searching for an IP address.
This Database was created through the lack of alternatives provided by the RIRs (Regional Internet Registries) itself. RIPE has setup a project called “AbuseFinder Tool”. As soon as this project is in a stable version and offers fast and reliable feedback, we will stop offering RIPE Data in our Abuse Contact Database.
As easy to use as a DNS-Query
The database is DNS driven and runs on a rbldnsd. This means that you can send requests to the DNS server in the same way you would do with a RBL or any other DNS based list.
For IP 87.230.78.96 query abuse-contacts.abusix.org with this command:
# host -t any 96.78.230.87.abuse-contacts.abusix.org
If you do not get any result, the range or IP does not exist or we do not have it in our database yet. This is why the list is currently still in its beta phase.
We use only the biggest by RIRs (ARIN, RIPE, LACNIC, APNIC, AFRINIC) allocated ranges and the abuse contact address. We regularly update cycles on all data to find out if there are changes in the whois information. If you figure out that there is a problem with the data or something is going wrong, please let us know so we can update it in time.
Where do you get the data from?
We use the information stored in the whois record for the range in question.
What does this service cost me?
It is almost for free! You can use the data to start reporting abusive behavior globally. If you use the information from our list, we would like you to put this small reference into every single message, outlining that you have used data from us. This is simply to ensure that if there are any questions, wrong or old data, the receiver can contact us and let us know.
The recipient address of this report was provided

have any question or think the recipient address
